About Emoji Quiz
Emoji Quiz is a free emoji guessing game for kids — a small clue made of one to three emoji, and a word hidden behind it. Your child reads the picture-riddle and picks the answer from four written choices: 🦁 is a lion, 🍞🥜🍇 is a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich, 🏰🐭✨ is a famous theme park. It reads like a riddle your child gets to solve.
Across 10 levels the clues grow from a single emoji into trickier three-emoji combinations, and the topics widen from animals and food to places, movies, feelings and more. Because the answers are written words, this one suits an early reader, roughly ages 6 to 10, rather than a pre-reader. There is an optional hint on every question, so a stuck child always has a way forward.
How to play
- Read the emoji clue at the top of the card.
- Tap one of the four written answer choices.
- Right turns green; wrong turns amber and shows the answer.
- Tap “Need a hint?” for a one-line clue — it costs nothing.
- Finish the level's questions to move up.
What it teaches
Underneath the emoji, your child is practising inference: putting a couple of clues together to reach a word nobody has spelled out. That is the same thinking reading comprehension will ask for later in school. It also builds vocabulary across animals, food, places and movies. Because a wrong guess just shows the answer and moves on, and a hint is always one tap away, there is little cost to a guess, which keeps a hesitant child trying.
Frequently asked questions
What is Emoji Quiz?
A free emoji guessing game for kids — you see a little clue made of one to three emoji, and your child guesses the word hidden behind them from four written choices. The clues cover animals, food, places, movies, feelings and more, so it plays like a picture-riddle: 🍞🥜🍇 is a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich, 🏰🐭✨ is a famous theme park. It runs in any browser and grows across 10 levels.
How do you play Emoji Quiz?
Read the emoji clue at the top, then tap one of the four answer choices below it. Guess right and the tile turns green with a cheerful 'Got it!'; guess wrong and it turns amber, the correct answer lights up, and the quiz moves on, so there is no way to get stuck. If a clue is tricky, tap the 'Need a hint?' pill for a one-line clue, which costs nothing. Each level is a short run of 5 to 10 questions.
What age is Emoji Quiz for?
Best for ages 6 to 10, because this one needs reading. The emoji clue is picture-based, but the four answer choices are written words like 'Fire Truck' or 'Finding Nemo', so a child who can read short phrases will get the most out of it. The early levels use a single emoji and no timer, which is gentle for a 6-year-old; the later levels mix trickier three-emoji riddles with a soft countdown.
What does Emoji Quiz teach?
Mostly inference: reading a few clues and working out a word nobody has spelled out. Your child looks at each emoji, decides what the pieces add up to, and matches that to one of the choices. It is the same thinking that reading comprehension asks for later in school. Along the way it stretches vocabulary across animals, food, places and movies, and it builds the habit of reading all four choices before tapping.
How many puzzles and categories are there?
There are 59 hand-written puzzles spread over 10 levels, drawn from 8 kinds of clue: Animals, Food, Nature, compound words, Places, Movies, Scenes and Feelings. Early levels stick to one kind at a time; the last two levels mix several kinds together so your child never quite knows what is coming. Questions are shuffled each run, so a repeated level does not feel identical.
Is there a timer?
Only later on. Levels 1 to 3 are untimed, so a young reader can take as long as they like to puzzle out a clue. From level 4 a gentle per-question countdown fades in and shortens as the levels climb, from about 8 seconds down to 3, and turns amber in the last few seconds. If time runs out, that question simply counts as missed and the quiz moves on. There is no penalty beyond that.
Can my child fail or lose?
No. There are no lives and no game-over. A level is a run of questions your child always plays to the end. Get 60% or more right and the game says 'Level up!' and moves to the next level; get fewer right and it replays the same level with a friendly 'one more try', and it never sends your child back to an easier level. The result screen shows up to 3 stars for a level, based on how many your child got right.
Is Emoji Quiz free? Any ads or sign-up?
Yes, completely free. No ads, no account, no sign-up, and nothing about your child's play leaves the device. It works in any browser and can be added to the home screen to play offline.
